Here is the 283-144 roll call Oct. 20 by which the House passed S-397, the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Firearms Act of 2005, as reported by Associated Press. (See related story in this issue on the bill protecting the firearms industry from frivolous lawsuits.) The measure had previously passed the Senate in July.

A “Yes” (Y) vote is a vote to pass the bill. Voting for passage were 223 Republicans, 59 Democrats and one independent. Voting “No” (N) were 140 Democrats and four Republicans. An (X) denotes those not voting. Three Republicans and three Democrats did not vote. There is one vacancy in the 435-member House.
